What to Expect

01

Unbox & Inspect

Check all components against the packing list. Inspect for transit damage before starting installation.

02

Prep the Opening

Confirm rough opening dimensions. Opening should be 2" wider and 2½" taller than the door size.

03

Set the Frame

Position the pre-hung unit, shim plumb and level on hinge side, then secure to the rough opening.

04

Hang the Door

Check swing clearance, nail or screw through shims, and verify the door opens and closes freely.

05

Hardware & Trim

Install lever sets, strike plates, and door stops. Attach casing trim and touch up as needed.

Installation FAQ

What tools do I need to install a pre-hung door?

You'll need a hammer, nail gun or screws, shims, a level, tape measure, utility knife, and a drill. A reciprocating saw is helpful if you need to adjust the rough opening. Full tool list is included in the installation guide PDF.

What should my rough opening be?

Standard rough opening is 2" wider and 2½" taller than the door slab size. For example, an 80" × 32" door requires a rough opening of approximately 82½" × 34". Always verify before ordering.

Can I install these doors myself or do I need a contractor?

Pre-hung doors can be installed by a confident DIYer with basic carpentry skills. However, for new construction framing, out-of-square openings, or exterior doors requiring weatherproofing, we recommend a professional installer.

What if my opening is out of square?

Minor variations (up to ¼") can be corrected with shimming during installation. Larger gaps may require reframing the opening. Contact our team — we can advise on the best approach for your specific situation.

Do the doors come with hardware included?

Most doors ship as slab or pre-hung without hardware unless specified. Door levers, handles, and hinges are available separately. Contact us to spec the right hardware for your door model.
